Seoul National University (SNU) is and has been the indisputable leader of advanced education in Korea since its establishment in 1946. SNU has earned this reputation by maintaining the highest standards in both teaching and research. Gwanak Campus, the main campus of SNU, accommodates four graduate schools, eleven colleges, sixty- six research institutes, and other supporting facilities. Yeongeon campus is the medical campus which includes the University Hospital as well as other research institutes and organizations related to medical sciences. About 20,000 undergraduate students and 11,000 graduate students enroll at SNU every year. The faculty, consisting of 1800 professors and instructors from around the world, teaches students and conducts research at SNU.
Exchange Student program is available for UGM students. Exchange students may study at SNU for one or two semesters, and they will be enrolled at SNU as non-degree students. While on exchange program will be exempt to pay SNU tuition during the regular (Spring and Fall) semesters. Although exchange students do not pay SNU tuition, they are responsible for other expenses such as accommodation fee, airfare, etc. To be an exchange student, candidates must first be officially nominated by their home institution.
Eligible Students
- must have finished at least 2 semesters at UGM
- Have a GPA 3.0 or above / 4.0
- Language proficiency of English (TOEFL > 500). Korean is highly recommended, but not compulsory (except for those who take Korean History)

Application Procedure
- submit the following documents to Office of International Affairs UGM
- Certificate of Enrollment from Faculty
- Latest academic transcript
- Two letter of recommendation from two of your professors. Please use SNU letter of recommendation form
- A statement of purpose in English or Korean (please use letter size paper)
- A copy’s of applicant’s passport
- Two photographs (3×4)
- After you have been nominated to SNU, you will get an email that includes instructions on how to access SNU Student Exchange Program Application System (SNU SEPAS) and your login information.
- Print out the online application form and submit it to OIA.
There is no scholarship available from SNU, you will have to pay for the dormitory (~500.000 won) and daily living cost. Tuition fee will be exempted.
The deadline submission for necessary documents to OIA UGM has been extended to October 7th, 2011. Other dates still apply.
