Short Term Exchange Program with Scholarship (STEPs)
Application Guideline
Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) offers STEPs, Short Term Exchange Program with scholarship*, to international students of SEATUC member universities who wish to join our research activities in the field of engineering with a scholarship for 32-62 days. Although contents of the program are mainly research activities in the laboratory in which you are interested and engagement in assignments given by supervisors, students are always welcome to propose us what they desire to do during this program; for instance, auditing classes, joining Japanese language classes, joining events for international and Japanese students, etc.

*This scholarship is funded by Japan Student Service Organization ( JASSO).
1. Term:
Participant may choose the period from 32 to 62 days to start anytime between September 24, 2011 and March 10, 2012, depending on a supervisor’s schedule.

2. Scholarship :
Participant in this program will receive 160,000 JPY from SIT in cash after the program starts. Tuition and accommodation fee are free of charge.
<Example of Student Expenses (one and a half month stay)>
- Airfare for round trip : 80,000-100,000JPY
- Living expenses : 80,000 JPY
3. Contents of STEPs:
- Joining research activity in a laboratory
- Auditing classes if any
- Participating in Japanese language classes
- Participating in activities for communication with Japanese students
- Participating in trainings or activities which supervisors or staff members of Center for International Programs indicate.
4. Accommodation:
Participant stays at a guest house for international students, DK House Warabi, which SIT provides, is located in Nishi-kawaguchi, one hour from our campuses by train during the program. DK House Warabi is furnished with utilities, linen, internet connection, etc.
5. Program Completion Report:
Participant must submit a report (format of the report will be informed during the program) to Center for International Programs within two weeks after the end of the program.
6. Application Procedures:
Please email the following information to Center for International Programs < kokusai@ow.shibaura-it.ac.jp> by at least two months earlier* than the program starts. After submission of information below, we will send application sheet accordingly. Due to a limitation of the scholarship, we may screen the participants of this program.
